I love easy recipes.
Especially when they involve pizza.
This is extremely easy, quick to prepare, and you can add your own stuff to it.
I came up with this over the weekend…obviously while I was hungry. I had accidentally bought Pillsbury Pastry Sheets instead of Puff Pastry sheets and wasn’t sure what to do with them. (In hindsight, it wouldn’t have mattered…they do basically the same thing as a Puff Pastry sheet.)
So I was hungry and craving pizza. Which meant I was rummaging through my fridge for the pepperoni. And then I stumbled upon my pastry sheet and had an idea.
It turned out fantastically. The buttery goodness of the Pillsbury pastry mixed with cheese and pepperoni was, well…really unhealthy, actually. But so good.
It took me about five minutes to prepare. And let’s face it…the less work you have to do for your food, the better it tastes. Which is why going to restaurants is so much fun. It takes about 30-40 minutes to bake, though, so I would suggest saving this for a day where you just don’t want to cook, but you have a little time on your hands.
What you’ll need:
- 1 Pillsbury Pastry Sheet (generic brands are fine if you can find them)
- mozzarella cheese
- pizza sauce
Step 01: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lay your pastry sheet on a greased pan.
For the sake of not having to wash my baking sheet, I used a pie plate. 😛 It worked!
Step 02: Add sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.
You can pile more cheese and sauce on top if you like.
Step 03: Fold the pastry, tucking the corners in and pressing to seal.
Step 04: Bake for 35-40 minutes. Cut into pieces, and serve.
This is big enough for about four people. Or you can just eat the whole thing yourself. No judgements. 😛
You can add herbs and vegetables to it, too. Whatever you would put on a pizza will work, really.
Before you say this looks like a calzone…it does. But it’s not. You’ll need a fork to eat it, since it’s not made of pizza dough. The perk of a calzone is that you can eat it while walking. With this, you can not, since it’s made out of soft pastry dough.
